Following the sensational success of recent years, “JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR – The Rock Concert” is coming to the Wiener Stadthalle this Easter 2027—complete with audience participation!

A dream team is back for a revival: Drew Sarich as Jesus and Serkan Kaya as Judas will once again share the stage. Accompanied by a top-notch live band and a fantastic ensemble, the legendary rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice will be transformed into a spectacular live rock concert.

Lukas Perman presents this musical classic in his modern, rousing stage production as a major concert event with star power in a class of its own! Songs like “Gethsemane,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Heaven on Their Minds,” and many more will be celebrated by the performers together with the audience.

At Austria’s largest indoor venue, the audience can look forward to a massive Easter finale concert featuring an interactive mass ensemble!

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR – The Rock Concert breaks down the traditional barrier between stage and audience: During the grand finale at the Wiener Stadthalle, the audience itself becomes part of the story: Selected audience members will join the crowd surrounding the story of Jesus and experience the show not just from the audience seats, but right in the thick of the action as part of the production!

Participants will be professionally prepared for selected crowd scenes in specially designed workshops and will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to actively shape the story alongside the stars.

A one-of-a-kind event that combines musical theater and rock into a unique live experience—complete with a video wall, of course, so that even those in the very back row feel like they’re right in the thick of it!

Star Cast 2027 – The Revival of a Dream Team

Drew Sarich & Serkan Kaya

The title role of Jesus in this staged-concert performance will be played by the acclaimed Jesus interpreter Drew Sarich. The American has called Vienna home for many years and is internationally renowned for numerous leading roles in German-speaking countries (Hair, Dance of the Vampires, Rudolf, etc.) as well as for his work as a West End and Broadway star.

The role of the antagonist Judas is played by musical theater and TV star Serkan Kaya.
Viennese audiences will remember him well as the legendary Lucheni in *Elisabeth*, as Galileo in *We Will Rock You*, and as Judas in earlier concert performances of *Jesus Christ Superstar*. In recent years, he has risen to prominence as an actor and TV star on German television and has received multiple awards, including the Grimme Prize and the 2021 German Acting Award.

Marjan Shaki as Mary Magdalene

Maria Magdalena is portrayed by actress and singer Marjan Shaki. For 20 years, she has starred in leading roles on Vienna’s major musical theater stages (including “Romeo & Juliet,” “Dance of the Vampires,” and “Evita”) and is known to a wide audience for her appearance as a finalist on “Dancing Stars” (ORF). Her subtle portrayal of “Mary Magdalene” is characterized by a touching blend of strength and fragility.

Thomas Borchert as Pilate

Pontius Pilate is played by Thomas Borchert. He is one of the most prominent musical theater stars in the German-speaking world. In Vienna, he has appeared in many classics over the past two decades, including *Elisabeth*, *Dance of the Vampires*, *Jekyll & Hyde*, and *Mozart!*. In addition, he has enjoyed great success with numerous solo performances.

With Georgij Makazaria in the role of Herod, a showstopper is guaranteed. He has proven his talent as a one-of-a-kind entertainer in thousands of performances and will once again bring the Grand Wiener Stadthalle to life in 2027!

The other roles are also cast with outstanding singers from the Austrian musical theater scene, including Vincent Bueno—known as the winner of the ORF show “Musical! Die Show 2008” and a 2020 Eurovision Song Contest participant—in the role of Simon.

The musical direction is in the capable hands of Christian Frank. He has been established in Vienna for years as an outstanding expert in the genre. The 11-piece band consists of select professionals and guarantees top-notch music.
