What would an allotment garden association be without its clubhouse? Without its little bar, where people gossip, vote, have a drink, and sometimes even bang on the table? In the Volksoper Allotment Garden Association, this place is called “Zur heißen Zitrone.” Everyone meets here regularly for a spritzer and some cheese toast: long-time members, newcomers, artist-bobos, retirees—in short, everyone who’s managed to snag a highly coveted plot in this idyllic allotment garden oasis and who’s deeply committed to defending that little patch of green that belongs only to them...
Austria under a magnifying glass, a close-up of our society—and for some, this allotment garden is pure bliss. Peace, barbecues, time off—but also: order and rules, because nothing escapes the neighborhood’s watchful eye. Neither the hedge that’s one centimeter too high nor the overhanging apricot tree. And certainly not the disregard for the midday quiet hours! In *Zur heißen Zitrone*, we tell the stories from this microcosm. Of course, they’re all connected by music: Austro-pop! Featuring Austro-pop hits by artists such as Wolfgang Ambros, Bilderbuch, Maria Bill, Arik Brauer, Horst Chmela, Georg Danzer, Ludwig Hirsch, Udo Jürgens, Voodoo Jürgens, Marianne Mendt, STS, Stefanie Werger, the EAV, and others.
