Clifford Brown, Charlie Christian, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers, Charlie Parker, Eric Dolphy, Chick Webb, Billie Holiday—they are all among the jazz greats who left us all too soon. Even in their twenties—and in some cases their thirties or just past forty—they were considered the greatest talents and rising stars of jazz and would have given the world many more unforgettable moments had they not been cut down by insidious illnesses and accidents, and sometimes by alcohol and drugs.

In the third chapter of THE STORY OF JAZZ 2026/27, the Kurt Prohaska Trio invites special guests who know how to pay a fitting tribute to the jazz giants who died too soon.

“As Time Goes By” is the four-part annual theme for 2026/27, marking the beginning of a new decade for THE STORY OF JAZZ!
