As Los Gringos, Messrs. Lechner, Trabitsch, and Rosmanith clearly have a blast and navigate their way through popular, (supposedly) “lowbrow” songs with great enthusiasm. It’s not uncommon for Harry Belafonte to appear right alongside Deep Purple—their musical horizons are certainly broader than one might initially assume.

The “hit parade” is created anew each time; the selection and order of the songs evolve as the concert progresses, occasionally even in response to requests from the audience. The focus is less on the “what” and more on the “how”: virtuosic, surprising, with plenty of improvisation and a palpable joy in playing together. Familiar songs are guaranteed to sound different here than usual—only the most beautiful song in the world remains off-limits, even for Los Gringos.
