The Silk Road was never just a route for goods. It was a flow of stories, sounds, and ideas—a place where cultures meet, interact, and transform. Music, art, language: Everything is on the move; everything remains in flux. And that is precisely where the project led by musician Oliver Steger comes in.

But instead of the grand, bustling trade route, SILK PATH 4 follows a quieter path that leaves room for nuances. Did you know, for example, that Shanghai was a hub of Western (jazz) music in the 1930s? The quartet knows this and lives it: In their music, Chinese melodies and lyrics meet jazz harmonies and modern grooves. The familiar is reimagined; the familiar is heard anew. A musical exchange that doesn’t need to be explained, but rather experienced.
