The Song Goes On

Info

John Jones is coming—with new songs, old friends, and the very reassuring news that music apparently isn’t retiring after all.

He rose to fame as the lead singer of the Oysterband, one of Britain’s longest-running and most influential folk/roots/rock bands. Stylistically, the group carved out its own niche between folk, punk, and rock—and has consistently defended it. More than 20 albums, countless tours, festivals from Glastonbury to Tønder, and plenty of awards later, the band officially bid farewell in 2023 with the “Long Goodbye” tour. Or so the theory goes.

But in 2026, the show goes on.

Together with Ray Cooper (also known as Chopper) and producer/guitarist Al Scott, John brings songs from every phase of his life: Oysterband classics, solo material, new tracks, and traditional songs that are probably older than any “band history.” All with a rotating lineup, plenty of instruments, and even more experience.

The tour is called “The Song Goes On”—and that’s exactly how it feels: no big comeback drama, just carrying on.

John Jones – vocals, melodeon; Ray Cooper – cello, piano, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals; Al Scott – guitar, mandolin, vocals
