The Nord Quartet blends Alpine musical traditions with musical influences from Scandinavia, creating a finely tuned sonic space that balances intimacy, vastness, and landscape. Since 2020, the four musicians from Tyrol, Styria, and Burgenland have been navigating the space between Austrian folk music and Nordic soundscapes with great musical sensitivity.

With the harmonica, Viennese horn, tuba, cello, and harp, they embark on a musical journey northward. Their starting point is traditional melodies, new compositions, and impressions that Johannes Kölbl gathered during his several-year stay in Scandinavia.

Their program, *Midnight Sun*, musically traces landscapes: clear lines, tranquil expanses, and dynamic images of nature meet polyphonic singing and warm acoustic timbres. The result is music that does not pit Alpine and Nordic traditions against one another, but rather brings them into resonance with one another.

Magdalena Saringer – harp, vocals; Florian Gurdet – horn, melophone, vocals; Johannes Kölbl – harmonica, percussion, vocals; Robert Puhr – tuba, cello, vocals
