Info
Four people, two duos, a trip across the Atlantic—and somewhere in between: Scotland, Canada, Kansas, a few really great songs, and world-class tap dancing.
Paul McKenna & Robbie Greig (SCOT)
Paul McKenna, a familiar face at Scottish Colours, is returning. His distinctive voice, his candid lyrics, and his pleasantly unpretentious stage presence have long earned him a loyal fan base. A lot has happened since his first WELTENKLANG tour in 2009: “Scots Singer of the Year,” an invitation to the Transatlantic Sessions, six albums—and songs that continue to strike an astonishingly relaxed balance between quiet melancholy, political undertones, and grand gestures. He is accompanied by violinist Robbie Greig, who previously appeared on *Scottish Colours* with Tannara and adds just the right balance of intensity and subtlety to the songs.

April Verch & Cody Walters (CAN/USA)
The second duo brings plenty of energy: April Verch & Cody Walters blend Canadian roots, old-time, ’50s country, and a dash of Scandinavian and Scottish folk into a sound that’s both traditional and vibrant. April Verch is a fiddler, singer, and tap dancer—and not just as a side hobby, but at a world-champion level in Ottawa Valley stepdance. Add to that over 15 albums, tours around the globe, and an audible joy in simply throwing folk and country together to see what happens.
By her side: multi-instrumentalist Cody Walters from Kansas, deeply rooted in old-time and bluegrass, responsible for the groove, strings of all kinds, and the solid foundation beneath the soaring fiddle lines.
