With *CORDOBA*, they made history at the Rabenhof; now Rupert Henning, Cornelius Obonya, and Florian Scheuba are back at their home venue in the Erdberg municipal housing complex. In their new play, Henning and Scheuba take us to the mirror-smooth stage of Vienna, Europe’s metropolis of international espionage, the city of the legendary “Third Man,” where the shadowy figures dance an absurdly grotesque round with the political clowns. And Obonya plays them all: the big and small fish, the moles and free-riders, the manipulative schemers and corrupt profiteers—and, not least, the unscrupulous puppet masters behind the scenes who unabashedly pull the strings in the new Cold War. Has the train of our freedom actually long since left the station? Have Western democracies already been completely infiltrated? And are we all, in the end, nothing but useful idiots?
