Maybe his long-standing marriage will run a little smoother if he’s genuinely cheerful about it. Maybe it’s easier to put up with the current shitty state of the world if you watch the news with boundless cheer. Maybe he’ll even like the red numbers in his bank account if he reads his statement with boundless cheer.
