CORAZÓN ABIERTO
LUCIANA MANCINI & PUERTO TANGO
A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF TANGO
Tango has always been a melting pot of emotions, musical styles and very different life stories. Within just three minutes, a whole universe opens up in which happiness and unhappiness lie very close together, where nostalgia, pain, joy and love find their place and stories are told in which everyone can recognize themselves. Although the tango originates from Latin America, it belongs to all of us and the Corazón Abierto ("Open Heart") project was born from this spirit. In their first joint concert at the MusikTheater an der Wien in March 2026, Luciana Mancini, Eszter Vörös and Éva Gárdos dedicated themselves to women in the history of tango; in their current project, they turn the focus inwards and explore the secrets of the heart.
BIG AND SMALL FUGUE
ANGELO CONCET
AN EVENING WITH WORKS BY LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN, JOSEPH HAYDN AND FRANZ SCHUBERT
Vienna in May 1826: Ludwig van Beethoven awaits the premiere of his Great Fugue op. 130 in an inn. His young colleague Franz Schubert is among those listening to the groundbreaking work - and is so overwhelmed that he is unable to compose for months. The near-encounter between the two composers is the starting point of the musical program Große und kleine Fuge with Angelo Konzett. The puppeteer and actor, who has been a regular guest at the MusikTheater an der Wien in recent years, brings Beethoven and Schubert back to life as puppets, with the older Joseph Haydn as a ghostly guest. Pianist Mennan Bërveniku also gives all three composers a musical voice. A subtly comic evening about three composers who made history in Vienna.
SCHMÄH, CHARM & OPERETTA
MAXIMILIAN MAYER & DANIEL GUTMANN
VIENNESE SONGS AND OPERETTA COUPLETS FROM JOHANN STRAUSS TO ROBERT STOLZ
For over five years, tenor Maximilian Mayer and baritone Daniel Gutmann have been thrilling audiences as a charismatic singing duo on international stages and on German-language television - for example with their regular appearances on the TV program Brettl-Spitzen on Bayerischer Rundfunk. Both are successful opera singers with impressive solo careers - but when they perform together, something very special is created: a musical dialog full of wit, warmth and Viennese soul. As a duo, they sing Viennese songs, operetta couplets and musical rarities. Their repertoire ranges from charming classics such as "Im Prater blüh'n wieder die Bäume" to great Strauss waltzes such as "Ja, das alles auf Ehr".
MUSICA PER LIUTO
DAVID BERGMÜLLER & PROXIMA D
WORKS BY ANTONIO VIVALDI
Let us imagine the old Vivaldi in Vienna, where the Venetian-born composer moved shortly before his death: far from the big stages, composing for the salon and chamber. The Proxima D ensemble (which made its debut at the MusikTheater an der Wien in 2024 with the production Combattimenti) performs lute concertos and trio sonatas by the "Prete rosso": intimate salon pieces typical of Vivaldi's last years in Vienna.
