The early years

The roots of black gospels and spirituals go back to the beginning of the 18th century. At that time, African slaves developed their first English-language hymns in the foreign land of America. At that time, they still had their very own moral ideas and religious convictions.

The history of the ensemble

For almost twenty years, we traveled throughout the United States, proclaiming the Good News in churches and theaters. During this time, I have had the privilege of experiencing some of the best gospel singers America has to offer. But no matter where my travels took me, I always kept my ears open.

In my own church in Harlem, the dream was born to bring some of the best American gospel singers together as a group to share their spiritual fire with our brothers and sisters in Europe. Thanks to the help of our producers and promoters, we can now live this dream.

When the singers of " The Christmas Gospel " ensemble raise their crystal-clear voices to the highest registers both at the beginning and at the end of the concert, a shiver regularly runs through the audience. After more than 500 concerts in Germany and Austria between 2000 and 2024, we can expect sold-out churches and concert halls on The Christmas Gospel 's upcoming tour thanks to the different experiences they have gained on stage and their well-known lucky hand in selecting their singers.
