Info
Tokio Hotel is a German pop-rock band that was founded in Magdeburg in 2001. The band consists of twin brothers Bill Kaulitz (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitar), as well as Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schäfer (drums). Originally active under the name Devilish, they changed their name to Tokio Hotel, inspired by their fascination with the city of Tokyo and life on tour.
The breakthrough came in 2005 with their debut album Schrei and the single Durch den Monsun, which topped the charts in Germany and Austria. This was followed by other successful albums such as Zimmer 483, Scream (their first English-language album), Humanoid, Kings of Suburbia, Dream Machine and 2001. Their music developed from rock sounds to electronic and pop elements.
Tokio Hotel became internationally known and toured Europe, North and South America and Asia. They have won over 100 national and international music awards, including several MTV Europe Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award and a World Music Award. Their visual aesthetic, characterized by eye-catching fashion and stage shows, made them style icons for an entire generation.
The band is known for its openness towards social issues such as individuality, equality and self-determination. Even after more than two decades in the music business, Tokio Hotel remains creative and relevant - with a loyal fan base and the courage to evolve musically.
