Info

The Lumineers are an American indie folk band founded in 2005 in Ramsey, New Jersey, by Wesley Schultz (vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, piano). The two began their musical collaboration after the tragic death of Fraites' brother and found solace in writing songs together. After first performing in New York City, the duo moved to Denver, Colorado in 2009 to focus on their music.

In Denver, they met cellist Neyla Pekarek, who joined the band and was part of the group until 2018. With their blend of folk, Americana and pop, The Lumineers developed an unmistakable sound characterized by simple melodies, emotional lyrics and acoustic instrumentation.

Their breakthrough came in 2012 with their self-titled debut album and the hit "Ho Hey", which landed in the charts worldwide. This was followed by successful albums such as Cleopatra (2016), III (2019), Brightside (2022) and Automatic (2025). Their music has been certified platinum several times and they have received Grammy nominations, including "Best New Artist".

The Lumineers are known for their energetic live performances and their closeness to the audience. They are among the leading representatives of modern folk rock and have built up a loyal international fan base. Their songs often tell personal stories and address social issues - always with an authentic, handmade sound.

Today, The Lumineers are considered one of the most important bands in their genre and have significantly shaped the folk scene of the 2010s and 2020s with their style.
