Info
Thirty Seconds to Mars is an American rock band that was founded in Los Angeles in 1998 by brothers Jared and Shannon Leto. The band is known for its cross-genre style, which combines elements of alternative rock, progressive rock and electronic music.
Their self-titled debut album was released in 2002 and was well received by critics. Their international breakthrough came with their second album "A Beautiful Lie" (2005), which contained hits such as The Kill (Bury Me) and From Yesterday. This was followed by further successful albums such as "This Is War" (2009), "Love Lust Faith + Dreams" (2013) and "America" (2018).
The band is known for its elaborate music videos and spectacular live performances. They set a Guinness World Record with over 300 concerts as part of the "This Is War" tour. Their fan base is called Echelon and is a central part of the band's identity.
Since the departure of guitarist Tomo Miličević in 2018, the band has officially existed as a duo. In 2023, Jared and Shannon Leto celebrated their comeback with the album "It's the End of the World but It's a Beautiful Day", which once again achieved high chart positions.
Thirty Seconds to Mars sees itself not only as a music group, but also as an artistic project that combines visual art, symbolism and social issues. Their motto "Provehito in Altum" ("Strive for the higher") reflects this philosophy.
