The Vienna Spanish Film Festival (VieSFF) celebrates its inaugural edition from April 23 to 26, 2026, bringing a carefully curated selection of contemporary Spanish and Latin American cinema to Vienna. Screenings will take place in some of the city’s most iconic cinemas, including Gartenbaukino, Urania Kino, and Artis International Kino. The festival presents a programme of feature films and documentaries that have been showcased and awarded at major international festivals such as San Sebastián, Cannes, and Venice.

Opening Gala & Special Highlights
The official opening takes place on April 23 at the historic Gartenbaukino, beginning at 19:00 with a red carpet and photocall. The gala starts at 20:15 and will feature a live music performance, the presentation of an honorary award to renowned, Goya-winning Spanish actor Antonio de la Torre, and the screening of La Cena (The Dinner), followed by a Q&A with director Manuel Gómez Pereira and producer Cristóbal García.
The evening will conclude with an after-movie party. Tickets include welcome catering and one drink. Black tie dress code is recommended.

Films, Guests & Industry
The programme includes a Spanish section featuring eight feature films, one documentary, and one short film, as well as a selection of Latin American cinema.
Audiences can enjoy titles such as Hugo 24, Reversión, and the documentary Flores para Antonio, with many screenings followed by Q&A sessions with filmmakers and actors.
The festival welcomes internationally recognised guests such as Netflix stars Arón Piper, Jaime Lorente, and Enrique Arce, known from globally successful series like Elite and Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). In addition to the screenings, the festival features panel discussions, public events, and the industry-focused “Industry Day: Austria meets Spain,” bringing together Austrian and Spanish film professionals for networking and
collaboration.

A New Cultural Platform in Vienna
The Vienna Spanish Film Festival aims to establish Vienna as a new meeting point for Spanish, Latin American, and Austrian cinema, positioning the city within the growing network of European capitals hosting Spanish film festivals. All films will be presented in their original language with German or English subtitles.
