AMITIÉS: Celebrating friendship without borders on a new album - sensitively fresh and original
For their album "Amitiés" ("Friendships"), Valérie Sajdik and French star pianist Cédric Chauveau have given songs such as "La mer" (Trenet) a new color, transformed hits such as "Mensch" (Herbert Grönemeyer) and "Ein bisschen Frieden" (ESC winner 1982) into a French version, transformed the politically significant song "Tout va très bien, Madame la Marquise" into reggae. And Françoise Hardy's hit "Comment te dire adieu"? Turned into a bossa ballad with an elegant piano riff.
Viennese-born Valérie and two-time Amadeus winner leads the audience through the evening with wit and charm, telling anecdotes from her adopted home of Saint Privat in France, which is also the namesake of her internationally renowned electro-chanson project with Waldeck, and from her performance tours, which recently took her to Senegal and via Paris to New York.
The European at heart evokes the unifying element of music and shows, among other things, how related French chanson and the Viennese song are... An evening full of surprises, as you would expect from Valerie.
One or two of her hits from her repertoire will not be missing.
