Pandit Abhay Rustum Sopori unfolds the timeless magic of Indian classical music with his characteristic Santoor style, the "Sopori Baaj". He combines the emotional depth of singing with the virtuoso expressions of instrumental music (tantrakari). Stylistic and aesthetic nuances such as gentle tone transitions ("meend"), fine embellishments ("gamak") and glissando-like elements are shown to their full advantage. The santoor engages in a captivating rhythmic dialog with the tabla. The concert leads the audience through various rhythmic cycles (talas) and takes them on a journey into the deep sound world of the santoor.

Pandit Abhay Rustum Sopori is a renowned Indian Santoor player, composer and conductor of orchestras as well as folk and Sufi ensembles. As a representative of the over 300-year-old Santoor tradition from Kashmir, he is considered a cultural personality of Jammu & Kashmir and has brought together many people from all over the world with his work. This tour is dedicated to his father, the legendary Pandit Bhajan Sopori, who decisively shaped the "Sopori Baaj" and led it to its present-day expressiveness.
