Avin Ahmadi - EP presentation Liminal
The Iranian oud player, singer and composer Avin Ahmadi presents her debut EP Liminal live for the first time at Salam Music. The 21-year-old musician is one of the most interesting new voices on the Austrian music scene. Born into an artistic family, she discovered her passion for the oud at an early age and studied at the conservatory in Tehran. After graduating, she moved to Vienna to continue her musical career. She is currently studying jazz improvisation at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, collaborating with musicians from various genres and touring Europe with her solo project.
Ahmadi's music follows a narrative and emotional approach. Liminal is also a personal work in which her feelings, thoughts and experiences become tangible. "For me, Liminal means existing in the in-between, between what I was and what I am becoming, between the intimate act of creation and the vulnerability that lies within it," she says about her debut.
Together with her ensemble, she unfolds a sensitive yet powerful musical dialog in which poetry, melody and improvised moments come together. Her music invites you to move between cultures and styles and to gain an insight into her personal world.

Sanam Maroufkhani - hosted by Avin Ahmadi
For the second set, Avin Ahmadi invites the Tehran-born, Amsterdam-based artist Sanam Maroufkhani. Together with her ensemble, she will present a selection of her works. Maroufkhani's music arises from a fundamental curiosity for sound and its emotional spectrum. Her compositions evolve from the recurring patterns of the piano and draw on her proximity to minimalism, while her songwriting retains an intimate tone.
In quiet reflections and precise observations, Maroufkhani's music moves between strength and vulnerability. Her voice tells a personal story while touching on social and political realities. Drawing on her Iranian background, she combines influences from the SWANA region and Persian lyrics with elements of Western alternative pop.
